Mockup / Packaging Specialist


We are searching for a mockup specialist to join our Creative Services team to help with on-site prototyping and prepress workflows. The Packaging Production Artists on our team create mockups of product and packaging for sales presentations and photoshoots. They make updates to Designer's files and use Illustrator and Photoshop to execute the finishing workflows and techniques for press. A typical day includes samples making, photography, digital file manipulation and print production workflows. We have many onsite resources at our disposal, including 3D printers, large format inkjets, Pantone matching tools and photography equipment.


The successful candidate will navigate frequent schedule changes and prioritize tasks within revolving deadlines, and will be onsite at our main office 3-5 days a week. A working knowledge of packaging formats and materials is required. Reports to the Creative Services Manager and works closely with other key personnel.


Experience with 3D printers, food labeling, consumables packaging formats and materials or CPG experience are a plus. Please be sure to mention any relevant experience in your cover letter!


Daily Functions

  • Create hand-samples for sales calls, preproduction submission, and internal meetings.
  • Submit physical builds and minor artwork updates for internal and Licensor review workflows.
  • Update packaging files and renders for Packaging Designers.
  • Photograph and stage product for all LOB s & Seasonal sets.
  • Prepare and route files for quality, samples and production workflows.
  • Coordinate with Packaging Designers, Sales, Marketing, PD teams to fill requests.
  • Update assigned projects and tasks with daily progress notes in Asana.
  • Interpret style guides to update layouts with Packaging Designer guidance.
  • Create or modify die lines.
  • Create UPC and UCCs.

  • Execute assignments with attention to detail.
  • Anticipate next steps.
  • Proof own work for Licensor, Frankford and FDA requirements prior to sampling or submitting.
  • Ensure samples and art files include accurate legal lines, NLEA and UPC information.
  • Effectively communicate schedule conflicts to Manager.


Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain image libraries (Photography, Cleanup, Labeling & Filing).
  • Help obtain quotes and place orders for short run samples requests.
  • Maintain workflow records & recommend improvement to processes.
  • Will learn to use 3D printers - prior experience is a plus.
  • Photography - any prior experience is a plus.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated history creating packaging and product 'hand' samples - Student work will be considered!
  • 1 - 3 years in a similar role, preferably in an agency or CPG company.
  • Proficient in Adobe Illustrator.
  • Photoshop editing skills.
  • Time management and organization skills are necessary to succeed.
  • Working knowledge of structural packaging materials and print processes not required, but helpful for a solid start.
