Maintenance Supervisor


Job Details

Our client is a large, privately held firm in the Greater Grand Rapids area. They are an industry-leader looking for a Lead Plant Maintenance Supervisor to join their team and make an immediate impact. The Maintenance Supervisor will serve as a senior maintenance representative responsible for achieving the highest level of reliability for plant equipment through committed support of the Total Productive and Preventive Maintenance (TPM) Program, and strong ownership of the Maintenance Excellence Process within their plant.


This role will: Ensure the safety of all employees, and lead a comprehensive safety program to prevent injuries. Comply with all federal, state and local environmental and safety regulations (EPA, SOHA, etc.). Effectively manage a Reliability-centered maintenance process that drives lower operational costs through improved uptimes, optimum labor and material spend, and increased equipment lifespan. Create the right team to drive the process. Train, direct and mentor staff on respective shifts. Deploy Maintenance Excellence while supporting plant TPM initiatives and partner with Maintenance Excellence Leaders to effectively and efficiently progress through the TPM and ME continuums. Achieve Zero Breakdown losses by creating an environment where personnel is fully engaged, teamwork and cooperation are routinely practiced, and maintenance personnel embraces high standards for housekeeping, craftsmanship, and equipment reliability. Implement a maintenance strategy for equipment important to safety, quality, and productivity that effectively utilizes proactive (preventive and predictive) maintenance and performance monitoring to detect equipment degradation and employ appropriate maintenance to prevent failure. Promote a culture in which production, engineering, and maintenance work together to identify and resolve abnormal or degraded equipment conditions that could negatively impact safety, quality or productivity.


Desired skills, education, and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing) or related field preferred not required;
  • 5+ years of experience, with a focus in manufacturing, process improvement, CI, reliability, and maintenance;
  • Ability to patiently train and mentor people, develop new leaders, and create a culture of safety, collaboration/teamwork, accountability, and trust.
