International Career Advancement Program (ICAP) is a professional development and leadership program for highly promising mid-career professionals in international affairs in the United States, sponsored by the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver. ICAP provides a support network, career advising, mentors, policy and research background, and other assistance in order to help professionals from underrepresented groups and those who are strong advocates of diversity and inclusion have a more effective voice, achieve their potential, and assume leadership positions in international affairs in the United States, in both the public and the private sectors. ICAP is held annually in Aspen, CO, with continuing sessions in Washington, DC, New York City and occasionally other locations.

Position Summary

The Program Coordinator will work closely with and under the direction of the Director to ensure that the operational and logistical needs of ICAP and the ICAP Fellows Association and its projects are met. The Program Coordinator will help the Director to coordinate events, communications, and outreach activities and handle the logistical needs of the program. Position continuation is contingent on available funding.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a support person for ICAP, its Director, and external partners.
  • Help to plan and execute events, workshops, and meetings in Denver, Aspen, and Washington DC.
  • Assist the Director in creating external and internal communication, including event announcements and newsletters.
  • Assist in updating the website and social media.
  • Assist in maintaining listservs and responding to inquiries.
  • Assist in tracking budgets, processing invoices, reconciling expenses and liaising with Korbel's finance staff.
  • Assist in supervising student employees in Aspen.
  • Assist in advertising, receiving and organizing applications.
  • Assist in maintaining ICAP records.
  • Helping to organize special projects as assigned.

  • Demonstrated interest in international affairs and in diversity, equity and social justice issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, and Word.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree.
  • Ability to work irregular hours during ICAP events, including two weeks of twelve-hour days during the ICAP events in Aspen.
  • Ability to travel to Aspen, CO and Washington, DC as needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience providing administrative support at the executive level.
  • Experience in higher education or public policy.
  • Experience planning events and providing excellent customer service.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Experience in social justice, equity, and inclusion issues.
  • Proven skills in network building, stakeholder outreach and engagement.

Working Environment
  • Standard office environment.
  • Unexpected interruptions occur often and stress level is moderate to high.
  • Noise level is quiet to moderate.

  • Physical Activities
  • Ability to sit in front of a computer for an extended period of time.
  • Occasionally required to move about the office/campus with the capability of transporting objects up to 20 lbs.

  • Work Schedule

    The University's administrative offices are open Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Work schedule may vary.

    In accordance with the University's flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Further details regarding this plan will be determined with the hiring manager and are dependent on the division and team specific needs.

    Salary Grade Number:

    The salary grade for the position is 7.

    Hourly Range:

    The hourly range for the position is $24.50 - $28.10.
