**JOB DESCRIPTION:**
* The Machine Shop Managers role is to lead the Machine shop staff in producing high quality precision Tooling parts i.e. Forming Molds, Sealing Platens and Die Punching tools. Tooling parts are unique from part to part in Job shop workflow within established schedules.
* The manager must be knowledgeable and have a complete understanding of machine shop practices involving CNC milling, Flat Grinding, EDM, basic manual milling manufacturing.
* Takes a leadership role with this position running the shop as if it were their own
* Strives for continuous efficiency improvements, workflow and process improvements
* Demonstrates their knowledge of machining in a manner that earns respect of fellow associates
* Has the ability to determine and recommend necessary equipment and grade of equipment to be purchased for process improvements
**JOB REQUIREMENTS:**
**Knowledge, skills and abilities required:**
* Oversee, supervise and coordinate multiple shifts
* Ensure accurate staff and machining center time reporting
* Monitor budget vs actual machining times for machined components
* Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, equipment purchases and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, and associates.
* Interpret specifications, drawings, and routings to associates/machining centers, and assigns duties. Inspects products to verify conformance to specifications and directs optimization of setup and adjustments of machines as well as CNC programming optimization.
* Coordinate production activities with purchasing, engineering, maintenance, and quality control to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment. Revise production schedules and priorities as a result of unplanned expedited parts, equipment failure or operating problems.
* Firm understating of close tolerance part features using gage blocks, indicators, bore gage etc.
* Enforces company policies and safety regulations to associates
* Working knowledge of the metric dimensioning
* Ability to operate and input data into PC computer
* Understand fundamentals of an ERP software system. Experience with Infor Syteline a plus
* Ability to program machine tool code using commercial application software running on PC computer Preferably Autodesk Delcam Feature Cam software
**Education and Training:**
* Must have a minimum of a 2 year technical degree, trade school - training or apprenticeship program certificate in a mechanical discipline or tool and die making.
