Job Summary: The Pharmacy Courier is responsible for the frequent, timely and accurate delivery of medications, supplies, and products dispensed by the Department of Pharmacy.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the timely and accurate delivery of pharmacy products, for example, but not limited to medications and pharmacy supplies throughout the campus
  • Responsible for the transportation of pharmacy items throughout the hospital and clinics
  • Appropriately sorts and delivers medications based on priority and needs of the department
  • Perform STAT and frequent medication deliveries as needed
  • Utilizes appropriate PPE and precautions when required during the transportation of hazardous medications
  • Assist in the transport and movement of pharmacy medications and supplies throughout the pharmacy and its satellites
  • Ensures the integrity of medications and supplies are maintained during the delivery of medications
  • Able to distinguish the appropriate method of delivery of medications
  • Assists in the processing of medication returns in a timely and appropriate fashion when directed by a Pharmacy Manager
  • Maintain medication rooms and perform inspections as needed
  • Performs the cleaning of medication rooms, ADM cabinets, and pharmacy locations
  • Performing special tasks as assigned. For example, inventory management
  • Answer and triage phone calls
  • View patient profiles to assist in processing missing doses, and other medication request needs
  • Accurately log all delivery transactions and rounds in the appropriate log
  • Communicate deliveries to stakeholders, provide delivery updates as requested
  • Assist in the coordination of medication deliveries
  • Provide real-time delivery updates through the use of hospital-provided communication devices
  • Maintain a clean work environment, for example, but not limited to cleaning devices/containers used in the transportation of medication and supplies.


Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience: : 1 year of Health Systems/Hospital experience, Retail/Outpatient Pharmacy preferred. Thorough knowledge of procedures and methods related to the delivery of medications and pharmacy supplies. Must have the ability to work cooperatively with the health system and pharmacy staff; ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential duties of the position; ability to use computer applications required to function in the role. Must have physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position

Education: High School Diploma or GED required

Licenses / Certifications: Preferred: Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB) in good standing

Other: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
