Trucking Litigation Senior Associate: Houston


Job Details

We are working with a top-tier Texas law firm seeking an attorney with 6-12 years litigation experience, preferably in a high volume, dynamic, insurance defense/commercial litigation practice, to join its Houston office. Defense side trucking litigation experience is a must; defense side construction defect litigation experience is a candidate plus. Trial experience is never a minus. Salary is $140,000-160,000 (depending upon experience). The firm also offers a great bonus plan and a 401(k) plan with an employer match. The position is in-office with a work from home schedule. Candidates must be active members of the Texas bar in good standing.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage an active case load throughout Texas.
  • Manage timely reporting to clients and insureds.
  • Maintain client satisfaction, providing prompt communication before, during and after cases.
  • Research the law applicable to cases or matters; draft legal documents, pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and opinions as required.
  • Remain current with developments in the law.
  • Conduct discovery; hearings; trials; depositions (taking and defending); oral arguments; mediations; arbitrations; administrative and similar proceedings, as required; and properly prepare clients, insureds, and other persons, as necessary and appropriate, in relevant litigation contexts.
  • Effectively communicate and persuade using written and verbal skills.
  • Coordinate with experts, when appropriate.
  • Conduct settlement negotiations, if requested.
  • Do all other work necessary to provide vigorous advocacy to the client.
  • Meet all deadlines in a timely manner providing completed work product to the supervising attorney sufficiently in advance of any deadline for constructive discussion of options.
  • Bill 160 hours per month (generally: additional time may from time to time be required to complete certain projects and meet deadlines).


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Litigation experience: 6 years + (Required)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Transportation/Trucking (Required)
  • Construction Defect (Preferred)
  • Computer and software proficiency (Required)
  • Active member of the Texas State Bar (Required)


PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

  • This is an indoor office environment and may require sitting and utilizing a computer for extended periods of time. A candidate should have the ability to do so to complete job requirements.

OTHER DETAILS:

  • Salary: $140,000-$160,000 (depending upon experience)
