Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - Full-Time Nights

Oh baby! Our Women's Services department is growing by leaps and bounds. We're looking for experienced Labor & Delivery CST to join our tight-knit nursing team today. New Women's Services facility just opened!

Work location: Texas Health Denton, 3000 N I-35, Denton, TX 76201

Work hours: Full-Time Nights (7P-7A) for 36 hrs/week

L&D Department highlights:

  • The Center for Women at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Denton is a Texas 10-step facility with the "Best Place to Have a Baby" designation. Robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team
  • The unit has a 12 LDR beds, 2 OR suites, 3 private recovery rooms, 6 Antepartum rooms, 4 private OB/ED beds, and 23 Postpartum/Newborn beds.
  • Level III NICU with 16 beds with private rooms
  • The unit delivers an average between 175-200 a month.
  • OB Hospitalist 24/7
  • Anesthesiologist dedicated to L&D 24/7

Here's What You Need

Education
H.S. Diploma or Equivalent and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 Req Or
Other Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire Req
Other Graduate of an accredited surgery technology program, Vocational Nurse Program or graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology Upon hire Pref

Experience

  • 1 Year current operating room experience
  • CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate of an accredited surgical tech program Upon Hire Req Or
    CST - Certified Surgical Technologist and was employed to practice surgical technology in a health care facility before September 1, 2009 Upon Hire Req Or
    CST - Certified Surgical Technologist graduate/completion of a military training program in surgical technology 2 Years Req Or
  • LVN - Licensed Vocational Nurse Upon Hire Req And
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Req
  • 1 year of experience in L&D strongly preferred

What You Will Do

  • Preoperatively assists R.N. circulator in formulating plan of care.
  • Assists as needed in coordinating patient care peri-operatively and assumes responsibility and accountability for behavior in order to maintain standards for professional nursing practice.
  • Post-operatively follows proper procedures for care of instruments, supplies and equipment. Under supervision, assists RN circulator with post-operative duties.
  • Infection Prevention: Assists in the delivering of nursing care in a manner that minimizes the risk of transfer of infection and accidental contamination.
  • Incorporates age specific safety/infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others need for information
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and while expediting out of hospital transfers.
