Purpose
Performs responsible pool duties ensuring the safety of patrons in the pool and pool deck area, provides customer service, and performs general maintenance tasks. Work schedule will include early mornings, nights, weekends and on call for special events and/or emergencies.
*(If selected for a lifeguard position, employment will be setup with a temporary staffing agency the City is contracted with for 2024),

Essential Functions
Mans a lifeguard station in order to maintain the safety of all patrons
Monitors activities at the pool to prevent accidents
Practices preventative lifeguard measures and performs water rescues
Administers First Aid/ CPR/ AED as necessary
Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards; enforces and adheres to pool rules and regulations
Follows emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency
Maintains order in the pool and adjoining areas
Inspects facilities for cleanliness; completes general pool cleaning and maintenance duties
Works as a walking guard to patrol the pool area.
Assists in the supervision of special activities and pool parties.
Assists aquatic patrons with various needs pertaining to the pool areas.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of general aquatic operating policies and procedures;
Knowledge of modern first aid and water safety techniques.;
Ability to assist in the planning, organizing, and coordination of pool activities and events;
Ability to follow oral and written instruction;
Ability to effectively respond in the event of an emergency.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with department staff and the general public;
Skill in performing basic pool facility maintenance;
Education and Experience
Must be a minimum age of 15 and have a current Red Cross Certification in Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED and First Aid.
