General Description

Water Fitness Instructors are a key part of our aquatics team, bringing low impact exercise to our community! Instructors will plan their workout routines, select music for each class, manage attendance, and be responsible for the safety of the participants (with the support of a lifeguard). Instructors must be enthusiastic, passionate about fitness, and have prior experience instructing adult fitness. Exercise equipment and sound system provided.

School Year Schedule:

Regular Instructors needed for future sessions:

  • Monday Water Fitness Classes 5:30 - 6:15 PM & 6:20 - 7:05 PM
  • Thursday Water Fitness Classes 5:30 - 6:15 PM & 6:20 - 7:05 PM

Substitute Instructors needed for:
  • Monday Water Fitness Classes 5:30 - 6:15 PM & 6:20 - 7:05 PM
  • Wednesday Water Fitness Classes 5:30 -6:15 PM & 6:20 - 7:05 PM
  • Thursday Water Fitness Classes 5:30 - 6:15 PM & 6:20 - 7:05 PM
No classes held on major holidays or during Syble Hopp school breaks!

Work Location: Most classes are taught at Syble Hopp pool during the school year with a small selection of being taught in the summer season at our outdoor pools.

Pay Range: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour. Estimated 2 - 2.5 hours per evening. Classes scheduled in sessions of 6 - 7 weeks. Instructors typically teach both classes on a weeknight for the duration of a session.

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and candidates will be notified when a new recruitment process begins. Applicants do not need to be a City of De Pere resident.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Basic knowledge of anatomy & physiology.
  • Knowledge of healthy lifestyle principles and exercise.
  • Ability to communicate and work well with the public.
  • Energy, enthusiasm, and resourcefulness.
  • Understanding of buoyancy and effective water resistance methods.

Minimum Requirements & Physical Requirements

  • At least 17 years of age, preferably 18+.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certification.
  • Experience in water related fitness instruction, fitness instruction, or something equitable.
  • Ability to perform & instruct aquatic fitness classes.
