This position is assigned to the Franklin Correctional Institution in Bunn, NC (M,T,W,TH, 8AM-3PM); although, some travel to other counties in the college's service area is possible.
Essential Duties

  • Prepare and deliver instructional activities that facilitate learning.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of hospitality concepts and core competencies.
  • Provide instruction and supervise training for a variety of hospitality operations essential.
  • Educate students on relevant safety requirements, laws, and regulations pertaining to hospitality.
  • Facilitate in-classroom learning and hands on training.
  • Train students on the proper operation of handling emergencies.
  • Work with Supervisor to make sure all supplies are ordered for the class.
  • Control and monitor all inventory/equipment used as a part of teaching class.
  • Complete VGCC paperwork with limited assistance and submit items in a timely manner for entering data into system.
  • Provide feedback to students regarding course progressions.
  • Maintain suitable class records, registration forms, attendance forms, evaluation forms, etc.
  • Submit paperwork to Coordinator at the end of class in a timely manner.
  • Inform Prison Staff and Coordinator of any student issues (attendance, behavior, etc.) as soon as possible.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:
  • Associate's degree in Hospitality Management or related field.
  • One-year experience in the field of Hospitality (Hotel and Lodging)
Education and Experience Preferred:

  • Experience working in a correctional setting preferred

Physical Demands

  • Light work that includes moving up to 20 pounds.
  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing.
