Join our Water Operations Team as they work to ensure the health of the local watershed, guided by the Elk Valley Water Quality Plan!

Reporting to the Calcite Lead, Water Operations, the Technician, Water Operations (Calcite) is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of water treatment facility work, such as accurate sampling, in-field monitoring, laboratory analysis, and interpretation of results to advise process changes.

Responsibilities:

    • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
    • Ensure compliance with British Columbia legislation as it relates to mine water treatment facilities
    • Monitor and control the water treatment facility to ensure performance objectives are achieved and reporting requirements are met
    • Conduct sampling and support third party contractors on the collection, preparation, and delivery of samples to the laboratory, including hazardous waste
    • Input and manage data on various platforms, such as EQuiS, SharePoint
    • Perform water chemistry analytical testing, laboratory testing, reagent preparation, as well as Quality Control testing
    • Conduct process control adjustments based on computerized data and process set point
    • Execute routine and non-routine operational activities as required, including start-up and shutdown, isolation or lock-out and or tag-out, and draining, de-pressurization and flushing of isolated equipment
    • Work at all mine sites and water treatment facilities throughout the Elk Valley and coordinate activities with site personnel


Qualifications:
    • Diploma or degree in Engineering or Sciences, or an equivalent. combination of training and water treatment experience
    • Strong mechanical understanding of process equipment
    • Strong digital literacy and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite ; especially Excel
    • Valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent
    • Previous experience with Programmable Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interface systems is considered an asset
    • Level I, II, or III Water or Wastewater Treatment certificate is considered an asset
