Assisting Hands Home Care is looking for caring, conscientious, and dependable caregivers who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those they serve, allowing them to maintain their independence and to remain in their own home. We currently have openings for a variety of shifts serving clients in Clackamas and Multnomah counties and positions which include Companion Caregiver. Caregiver starting wage is $15.50-18.50/hr, DOE.

You will assist with tasks intended to help a client with "Activities of Daily Living" as well as performing a variety of household service and tasks. These may include and but are not limited to:

  • Bathing
  • Personal Grooming & Hygiene
  • Dressing
  • Toileting & Elimination
  • Mobility
  • Nutrition/Hydration & Feeding
  • Medication Reminders
  • Mental/Cognitive Needs
  • Light Housekeeping
  • Meal Planning & Preparation
  • Laundry
  • Grocery Shopping & Errands
  • Transportation to Appointments
  • Standby and/or Assist with Transfers and Ambulation (some lifting required)

We look for the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience as a caregiver in a home care setting or skilled facility certainly helps, but we would be willing to talk to you if you are trying to get started in home care
  • You must pass a thorough criminal background check and have solid personal references
  • You must be able to function with minimal supervision when you are on shift and caring for a client
  • Our caregivers must be able to maintain an appropriate, professional relationship with our clients
  • You must have good communication skills to interact effectively with clients
  • Our caregivers must have a valid driver's license, current TB test, CPR First Aid certification and provide professional certificates
  • And you must be able to physically perform the work of caring for clientswhich usually requires that you can bend, climb, stoop, and stand, as well as lift 20-30 pounds without hurting yourself

Minimum Requirements

The caregiver must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older;
  • Be able to communicate both orally and in writing to sufficiently perform their tasks and duties and interact effectively with clients and agency staff;
  • Be able to pass all screening tests, including but not limited to criminal records and LEIE checks;
  • Have proof of the ability to work in the U.S.A. legally; and
  • Be able to successfully complete caregiver and medication training or have proof of current certification by the Oregon State Board of Nursing as a nursing assistant or medication aide in good standing.

Compensation: $11-$13/hr DOE
