Qualifications:
- Bar admission in good standing in at least one state with the ability to be admitted in North Carolina
- 5 years min years of experience within corporate governance from a financial/insurance institution
- Sharp communication skills
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating M&A and other transactional agreements.
- Familiarity and/or drafting of 33 Act and 34 Act filings
- Either a member of the NC State Bar or have the ability to be admitted to the NC State Bar

Our client, who is a fast-growing life insurance and annuities firm is seeking a Corporate General Counsel to join their team as a full time employee. This role will work hybrid out of Durham, NC. You will report to the Chief Legal Officer and be responsible for leading and overseeing major portions of the legal, corporate governance and compliance function for the operating insurance and reinsurance businesses. This includes but isn t limited to overseeing and supporting things like: vendor contracts and relationships, board meetings, M&A, operations legal support, transactional legal work, contracts, vendor contracts, SEC filings, and many other policies and procedures.
