Job Description:

Seeking a highly motivated Molecular Biologist to join the CHO Cell Line Development team for Bioprocess Development and Launch, and advance the Biologics pipeline. The scientist in this position will have several responsibilities in supporting CHO cell line development pipeline, including expression vector design and genetic characterization of cell lines and cell banks. A strong candidate will have in-depth experience with a variety of molecular biology techniques and mammalian cell culture/aseptic technique, as well as attention to detail, demonstrated skills and productivity in laboratory research.


Responsibilities:

Lead and coordinate expression vector design, plasmid construction, and quality control.

Characterize CHO cell lines using a variety of molecular biology techniques, including qPCR, ddPCR, Southern blot, northern blot, and sequencing analysis.

Maintain detailed, accurate, and clear documentation of experiments and activities.

Effectively organize and communicate research progress and planned activities through presentations.

Collaborate with colleagues in the Cell Line Development group and across multiple functional areas of the Bioprocess Development and Launch department to advance the Biologics Pipeline. Maintain a high level of productivity in the lab.

Demonstrate scientific initiative and creative thinking to achieve project goals and contribute team performance in a climate of scientific rigor.

Contribute to the smooth and effective operation of the CHO Cell Line Development labs through the 5S program.

Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding code of conduct, safety, appropriate handling of materials, and GxP compliance.


Experience:

Bachelor s Degree or Master s Degree in Cell/Molecular Biology or a related field with 5 years of relevant experience; pharmaceutical industry experience is preferred.


Skills:

Expertise in molecular biology techniques, including PCR-based assays and sequencing analysis.

CHO, Hela, HEK, or mammalian cell line development required.

Restriction digest, cloning, lot of vector design.

PCR, cDNA, RNA experience required.

Southern blot, northern blot.

Analyzing rather than running sequencing data.

Experience with expression vector elements, construction, and molecular cloning desired.

Experience with digital PCR assays, such as droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) and qPCR, BioRAD system desired.

Proven track record in vector biology, cell line genetic characterization, and/or CHO cell line development highly desired.

Experience with DNA sequence manipulation software and common software packages such as Microsoft Office.

Planning, multitasking, time management, and troubleshooting.

Collaborative and proactive attitude with scientific curiosity, work ethic, and attention to detail.


Education:

Bachelor s Degree or Master s Degree in Cell/Molecular Biology or a related field.
