Job Description CEO/General Manager
Vernon Communications Cooperative, located in Westby, WI is seeking a proven progressive executive to lead this organization through the rapidly changing industry environment. This is an excellent opportunity to work for an advanced, cutting edge member owned communications company with a long history of leading with new technologies. Along with the expected services the Company provides Security & Camera Systems, Structured Wiring and IT Support. It also has 10 community and school television channels and was one of NTCAs early Smart Rural Communities. This key position will report to the Board of Directors. The CEO/General Manager is responsible for providing general oversight and management of the business operations and will participate in establishing the overall corporate missions and strategies. This person will also represent the company and possibly participate in leadership positions in various industry partnerships and associations.
Preferred candidate will possess a desire to be operationally hands-on and have a strong technical background and project management skills with the ability to do budgeting and cost analysis, especially at the engineering level. Excellent communication skills, a thorough understanding of the financial, competitive and technical issues affecting the telecommunications industry with at least ten years of progressive experience required. Bachelors degree in related field of study preferred.
Vernon Communications Cooperative serves a 615 square mile area that includes 10 communities with both ILEC and CLEC operations. It has approximately 8,500 active cooperative members who are served 100% with Fiber-to-the-Home. Over 93% of their members subscribe to Broadband Internet and IPTV services. The cooperative currently has 38 employees and an 8 member board of directors. Vernon Communications Cooperative strives to provide all the communication, entertainment and technology services available through their fiber broadband network and looks to be an industry leader in future technologies.
