Qualifications:

• Previous military experience in accordance with the ROTC guidelines (DD214)
• Certified Senior Naval Science Instructor or
• Naval Science Instructor (NSI) and an associate's degree
• Naval Maintenance Index Page (MIP)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited four-year college/university
• Valid Florida teacher certification or equivalent
• Retired Naval or Coast Guard Officer Grades 03-06
• Prior NJROTC experience
• Drill and/or Marksmanship Team, CDMIS, PIEE/WAWF experience

*Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Maintains a valid Florida Teaching Certificate or appropriate certification.
2. Adheres to the rules and regulations as prescribed by the State Board of Education Florida Statutes, the school board, and administrative procedures.
3. Prepares, maintains, and submits accurate and complete records and reports as required by the State Board of Education Florida Statutes, the school board, and administrative procedures.
4. Supports the student learning plan.
5. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative procedures and board policies.
6. Fulfills the terms of the written contract, unless released from the contract by the school board.
7. Maintains a classroom environment which is safe, orderly, and conductive to effective learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students.
8. Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
9. Plans and executes a calendar of programs consistent with the NJROTC program guidelines and expectations.
10. Attends events outside the normal school day and calendar, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary to support the many unit events and activities, as well as school and community, events.
11. Prepares and maintains lesson plans for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of supervisor.
12. Works with students to create a classroom environment that is conductive to teaching and learning.
13. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of all individuals or student groups involved.
