Were the future of baking automation - and were growing! Were currently looking for an experienced **Buyer** to join our team.

The **Buyer** is responsible for the tactical procurement of commodities, supplies, equipment, and services to be used by the organization. The **Buyer** coordinates his or her efforts with various departments of the company to maintain the appropriate level of inventory. This individual will utilize expert knowledge to purchase goods and services at the most favourable price for the company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers.

**Responsibilities & what youll be doing:**

* Procure and place orders for goods, materials, and services for the organization in a timely and cost-effective manner

* Research and survey buying markets to source the most optimal suppliers, in accordance with corporate budget objectives

* Coordinate all purchases with suppliers to ensure rapid delivery and reception of goods and/or services

* Prepare and administer bids, requests for quote, requests for proposal, requests for information, and other vendor documentation

* Organize, coordinate, and periodically conduct physical inspections of inventory levels across the company

* Manage service level agreements, scope of work, and contract terms with service providers

* Handle shipping arrangements

* Verify and/or correct invoices from vendors - verify that the information on invoices is for agreed-upon prices, products

* Remain abreast of pricing trends, changes, restrictions, or any other variables that could affect purchasing strategies

* Advise departments and business units of lead time required to obtain products or services

* Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies using diplomacy and tact with vendors and service providers

* Make recommendations and suggest options to Purchasing Manager regarding expected or unexpected material shortages

* Negotiate return of items to vendors and coordinate subsequent credits, refunds, or replacements

* Where applicable, arrange for purchases with other buyers to obtain price breaks on volume orders

* Make alternate arrangements in the event of shortages or delayed deliveries to minimize impact on the organization

* Any additional duties assigned by ABI Management

**Education & Experience:**

Post-secondary education specialized in Procurement or Purchasing, Supply Chain, Material Management or Business Administration

Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a buyer; in a manufacturing environment is preferred

Strong knowledge of parts and warehouse processes preferred

Certification nice to have - CSCMP, APP, CPPB, CPPO, or equivalent

Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office systems and experience using integrated ERP system and SAP; ability to learn new software system to enhance job functions

**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:**

Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing and contracting techniques and procedures

Customer service oriented with strong vendor relationship management skill

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Sound knowledge of internal controls and finance management; knowledge of accounting, budgetary practices and principles desired

Good problem solving and decision-making skills, able to make sound judgment

Superior research skills and considerable knowledge of laws, foreign trades, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices

Strong writing skills for creating reports, correspondence, contracts, requests, bids, and other documentation

Knowledge of the appropriate tools for grading, analyzing, and assessing materials, equipment, supplies, services, and other commodities

Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills

Effective time management skills and able to respond appropriately in pressure situations with a calm and steady demeanour

Great team player who at the same time can work with little or no supervision

Able to consistently represent the company in a professional manner
