Senior Editor, Medical/Health. Unique opportunity for motivated medical journalist (or PharmD or other healthcare/science professional with a writing/editing background) to become a part of Health Monitor s team of award-winning health editors. As a senior editor on Health Monitor s Clinician Update, our Health Care Provider-facing publication, you ll report on the latest health breakthroughs and treatment guidelines, distill key takeaways from journal studies, craft compelling case studies, produce KOL videos, provide practice pearls and patient-engagement pieces and more. You should find it rewarding to consult closely with key opinion leaders from institutions such as Harvard, Yale, Johns Hopkins, Duke, Mount Sinai and elsewhere. The ideal candidate enjoys working independently and is comfortable in print and digital platforms. Salary commensurate with experience.

Job Summary:


SENIOR EDITOR (CLINICAL)

The Senior Editor will assist with editing, revising, and producing a variety of Health Care Provider-facing content such as HM Clinician Updates, digital exam-room poster copy, back-room print posters, KOL videos, podcasts, and more. Senior Editor will also support sales and marketing with development of appropriate content. Projects require more advanced skills and expertise than the Associate Editor role.


Duties/Responsibilities:


  • and/or implements editorial decisions concerning the content of Clinician Updates.
  • word processing software and text management systems to edit and prepare copy for manuscripts and presentations.
  • publications according to organizational specifications for style, tone, and length while ensuring correct use of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • with writers to select and finalize artwork, photography, and text for reproduction.
  • and works with key opinion leaders.
  • internally to ensure that any association or organization partners have reviewed and endorsed publications as necessary.
  • that publications meet style, formatting, and general quality standards.
  • publications are edited according to deadline and within applicable budget constraints.
  • physical proofs of printed materials.
  • that publications meet customer specifications.
  • knowledge of developments and trends in the area of content specialty.
  • with sales, marketing, art and production
  • with logistics, such as obtaining permissions, photographs, etc., and managing honoraria.
  • other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Med Com agency experience a plus
  • writing and editing skills.
  • written and verbal communication skills.
  • organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • with text management and desktop publishing software.
  • with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, or similar software.


Education and Experience:

  • degree in English, Journalism, or related field required.
  • least five years of related experience in health journalism.

Physical Requirements:

  • periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
