As a part of the larger CLES unit, and within Residential and Event Services (RES), the Student Center Facilities Support Team is responsible for the intensive and detailed custodial maintenance, event support and audio-visual (AV) support of Cornell's Student Centers, and other assigned area(s). The Student Centers are active hubs around campus that allow students, and other members of the community, a way to experience Cornell's thriving social scene by providing a great place to meet people, grab a bite to eat, or find a place to study. This team is driven by a passion for attention to details in order to provide an excellent customer experience.

Under direct supervision, the **Student Center Support Custodian SO-03** serves as key member of the support team by providing support and front-line service to students, staff, faculty, and all building users to answer any questions and help facilitate meeting/seminar/conference needs (including any audiovisual requests) . Primary responsibilities include routine custodial maintenance and care in a variety of areas throughout Cornell's Student Centers, and/or other assigned area(s). The SO-03 Support Custodian is the eyes and ears of the Student Center Facilities and is regularly relied upon to report key issues and complex audiovisual requests to support leads and ensure the overall execution of critical daily tasks.

A successful SO-03 Support Custodian will demonstrate effective interpersonal and customer services skills to effectively and clearly communicate with a variety of building guests and students and be poised to serve as a good steward of the university. Additionally, this position will leverage basic audiovisual skills to ensure that client technologies are consistently met. Must also have the ability to be creative and flexible at all times as schedules, shifts, locations, and daily tasks are subject to change to support special events or circumstances. Position may require evening, weekend, and holiday hours.

* High School diploma or equivalent with at least 1 year of relevant experience in a customer service field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

* Previous experience performing event setups (i.e. experience setting up tables, chairs, equipment, skirting, etc.) as well as demonstrated proficiency in basic audiovisual support

* Must be able to effectively read and write in English.

* Basic computer knowledge and troubleshooting experience

* Must poses & maintain a valid NY State driver's license

**Physical Requirements include:**

* Able to lift 50 lbs. consistently throughout the shift moving tables, chairs, etc.

* Able to operate necessary power equipment (i.e. floor machines, vacuums, buffers, etc.)

* Able to climb an 8 ft. ladder.

* Able to stand for long periods of time

* Must be able to work in all weather conditions and extreme temperatures for extended periods.

* Must be free of debilitating dust allergies, or have the ability to manage such allergy.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Knowledge and previous experience working in a Student Center, Event Center, and/or Conference Center operation preferred.
