We are currently seeking a full-time, on-site, Electronics Technician in our Chemistry department. This position troubleshoots and repairs electronic equipment, assists with general stockroom duties, while also assisting with teaching labs, creating or modifying processes and methods to improve work flow. The pay for this position is $18.81/hr.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the department's teaching and research missions, including the FIRST Molecules center.
  • Oversee and coordinate equipment, instruments, and computers.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, checks, and calibration of equipment and instruments.
  • Repair, calibrate, and interface instruments and dedicated, stand-alone instrumentation computers.
  • Coordinate with IT Services for repair and maintenance of network computers and printers.
  • Maintain inventory of instruments and computers and liquid nitrogen levels.
  • Design, build and program customized applications for approved projects.
  • Participate in the requisitioning of new instrumentation.
  • Provide replacement labware.
  • Assist with stockroom inventory, coverage, assistance, access, labeling, and equipment check-out.

Required Qualifications

  • An Associate's degree in electronics, electrical technology, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation repair, computer interfacing, and programming.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment including right-to-know and safety regulations.
