Phlebotomist


Job Details

Collects specimens by venipuncture, heelstick and/or fingerstick on patients in various settings, such as within the hospital, at third party off-site locations or in nursing homes operated by a third party. Also collects Microbiology specimens, urine drug screens and legal specimens as required. Office and computer skills are utilized in performing different aspects of the job, such as registration and entering test requests. Additional duties may include planting cultures in Microbiology and stocking supplies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent and completion of phlebotomy training program or equivalent training.
Preferred: N/A

Registration/Certification/Licensure:
Act 33/73 Clearances, Healthcare Provider CPR, valid driver's license and maintain eligibility to be insured under the Health Systems motor vehicle liability insurance.
Preferred: Phlebotomy registration by American Society of Clinical Pathology.

Experience:
Minimum: Clinical experience obtained through a phlebotomy training program OR six months prior phlebotomy experience.
Preferred: One year experience as a phlebotomist.

Other Requirements:
Responsible to safely access, transport, and handle sharps, such as needles, suture kits, lancets, syringes, etc.
