As a sales representative, you will be responsible for the sales and marketing of our valve and hydrant product offerings. Our valve and hydrant products are used for municipal water distribution, water and wastewater transmission markets, pump stations and treatment facilities, as well as municipal and industrial fire protection markets.

After an extensive training program, where you will develop product knowledge, attend various manufacturing facilities and learn advanced selling techniques, you will report to your territory to begin developing positive, long-term relationships with new and existing clients. Our sales representatives are involved in the entire sales cycle by educating clients through hands on and lunch and learn type presentations, preparing accurate and timely quotes, sales development and managing the distributor network. The sales associate will be responsible for covering Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the panhandle of West Virginia.

**Sales Representative Key Responsibilities:**

* Promote and sell AMERICAN products to the end user by establishing and developing a loyal, long term influential relationship with key decision-makers at municipalities, private utility companies and/or water and sewer authorities.

* Develop and maintain long-term relationships with consulting engineering firms that design and influence specification development. Use those relationships to create favorable environments for the use of AMERICAN products.

* Develop and maintain relationships with existing distributors by establishing a Team concept. Where needed, secure additional product distribution. Manage distributor network including pricing, conflict resolution, if any, relationship building, product and sales training.

* Become the face of the company to the local market served.

* Establish short and long term goals for the territory and works to achieve those goals.

**Minimum Qualifications:**

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.

* Valid driver's license and a good driving record.

* Good communication skills.

* Ability to read technical documents and interpret specifications for projects.

* Open to transfer within the U.S. and within the Sales Division.

* Ability to work with confidential information.

* Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software.

* Willing to work overtime and/or weekends to attend occasional trade shows.

* Available for travel a minimum of 60% of the time.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Experience in technical and communication skills.

* Familiar with AMERICAN's manufacturing process.

* Experience with Salesforce CRM software.
