POSITION SUMMARY

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the supervision of the Facility Coordinator, this position will perform entry level building repairs and clean multiple buildings. This person will track and complete preventative maintenance of exercise equipment and pools which includes cleaning, service and repair of exercise equipment. This position will assist the Facility Coordinator with projects as needed and must be able to work a flexible schedule to include evenings, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the facilities and equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Maintenance

  • Complete repairs to building and equipment. Complete status report within 24 hours.
  • Inspect facility regularly to identify cleaning and maintenance items needing attention or repair.
  • Replace light bulbs, lamps and light covers as needed or requested.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance as scheduled.
  • Maintain tools and workspace in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Monitor material and supply inventory and submit requests for materials and supplies as needed to the Facility Coordinator.
  • Assist with building projects as requested.
  • Clean, organize and restock Facilities/Custodial closets with maintenance supplies.
  • Review and complete work orders as needed.
  • Replace light switches and receptacles as needed.
  • Use pressure washer to clean building interior and exterior, to include roofs.
  • Maintain current logbooks of equipment preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Perform weekly pool maintenance (Sunday AM / Wednesday PM - training will be provided)

Cleaning

  • Assist with routine cleaning of exercise equipment as scheduled.
  • Assist with cleaning of all building areas as requested.
  • Assist with sanitizing locker rooms, showers, and restrooms daily.
  • Monitor and refill all toilet paper, paper towel, soap, drinking water, water cups and hand lotion dispensers as needed.
  • Clean organize and restock all Custodial closets as needed. Submit requests for additional supplies when needed.
  • Monitor recycling receptacles and place contents in bins located outside of building as needed.
  • Spot clean all floors, including carpets, as needed or requested.
  • Remove trash from Custodial closet and shop areas as needed or requested.

Assistant

  • Complete daily inspections and track repairs as needed for all equipment in Wellbeing Centers and Cycling Studios at all sites.
  • Under the direction of the Building Certified Pool Operator (CPO) assist with the monitoring and maintenance of water quality for both pools and spa as directed.

Association

  • Obtain additional training as required by supervisor.
  • Assist with Association special events or special projects as requested.
  • Wear YMCA nametag during all shifts

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years or older.
  • Experience /ability to learn proper use of various tools / chemicals utilized in facility repairs and with cleaning procedures.
  • Ability to efficiently read and follow instructions per Manufacturer recommendations or as directed by supervisor.
  • Ability to learn the use of various electrical amp/volt meters, service and repair exercise equipment per manufacture maintenance manuals and support techs.
  • Ability to complete projects as assigned, work independently to complete routine or scheduled tasks and to work safely with power tools and equipment.
  • Capable of carrying items up/downstairs and lifting 60 solo and 100 pounds with hand dolly on a regular basis.

Upon hire

  • Current Child & Infant and Adult CPR, AED and First Aid must be obtained within 30-days of hire and be current throughout length of employment.
  • South Sound YMCA's - New Employee Orientation must be obtained within 45-days of hire.

  • The work is performed both indoors and outdoors and requires travel to various locations.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to qualify as an approved driver for our insurance purposes
