Responsibilities
- Understand and follow all safety procedures.
- Operate and maintain all facility utility systems including steam, condensate, compressed air and cooling water equipment.
- Operate facility steam boilers and perform routine testing and inspections including but not limited to water sampling, boiler blow downs, etc.
- Operate facility air compressors and associated equipment to supply dry, oil free air to the facility.
- Perform breakdown and routine maintenance on utility system equipment such as boilers, air compressors, air dryers, condensate pumps, feed water pumps, chillers etc.
- Have general knowledge of boiler room/facilities equipment such as boilers, pumps, de-aerator, control room, air compressors, chiller, dryers, pneumatic controls, valves & HVAC.
- Monitor water treatment plant operations daily.
- Monitor and operate condensate return system to ensure efficient operation.
- Lubricate utility equipment.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Report any findings out of the ordinary to Utility Department Supervisor
- Perform miscellaneous facility support activities as defined by the Utility Department Supervisor.
- Continuously monitor and obtain utility meter readings daily.
- Read & interpret documentation such as drawings, manuals and technical bulletins.
- Use electrical tester to safely check power, fuses, breakers and switches.
- Operate a forklift, scissor lift and jenny boom.
- Plan and organize individual work.
- Install service and repair all equipment in a timely manner.
- Have and maintain proper hand tools.
- Maintain good housekeeping throughout plant and shop.
- Mechanics are expected to work in a team environment, on 8 hour shifts plus OT & weekends/ holidays.
Skill/Education Requirements:
- High school diploma/GED or minimum of 2 years work experience at Haywood Company
- Candidate should have 2 years general mechanical maintenance experience
- Must complete the Boiler Operator qualification training in 90 days of employment
Essential Physical Requirement
- Be able to lift 50 pounds
- Be able to climb and work from Ladder.
