Job Title: Director of Finance
Reports to: President

Position Summary
This position will direct and supervise the areas of accounting, investments, and budgeting. The Director of Finance will be responsible for ensuring financial stability and the forecasting of a $9M budget while supporting the strategic goals and values of East Side Neighborhood Services (ESNS). Direct reports may include Lead Accountant, Accounts Payable, and Program and Grants Compliance staff. This position will be a key member of the Executive Team and serve as an integral member on the Finance Committee of the ESNS Board of Directors (Board) working to identify diverse funding streams.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Director of Finance has a variety of duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Lead and supervise accounting staff in the execution of their responsibilities.
- Provide training and support to accounting staff as needed.
- Management of outside auditors and tax preparers in conducting the annual audit and filing of tax returns to satisfy the Board, funders, and public.
- Supervise the preparation of monthly financial statements and other analytical reports to ensure compliance with the annual budget.
- Manage the finance function to ensure adequacy of working capital and cash reserves, including financial and cash-flow projections.
- Lead the agency budget preparation to ensure that resources are deployed to meet strategic goals, programmatic plans, and contractual obligations.
- Develop and implement procedures and policies related to accounting and finance best practices.
- Management of the agency's investment portfolio in conjunction with the Finance and Investment Committees of the Board.
- Work closely with Program leadership and the Advancement Department to document and complete submission of proposal and performance material.
- Monitor all Program contracts and funding requests to ensure that revenues are spent for the purpose intended and are in compliance with financial and legal requirements.
- Other duties, services, and support as needed and assigned.
QualificationsJob Requirements and QualificationsEducation:- Four-year degree in Administration, Finance, or Accounting
- Masters in Business, Public Administration, Finance, or Accounting strongly preferred.
Experience:- Minimum of five (5) years of accounting, administrative, and managerial experience, preferably with a nonprofit organization.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
- Knowledge of MIP and MARTUS plus desire to continue to explore other technology solutions that may benefit the organization.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit fund accounting, audits, and taxes plus expertise in finance and accounting, in general.
- Considerable expertise and/or experience with the concepts and practices of financial management and organizational development.
- Exceptional organizational, managerial, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively both as a member of a team and independently.
- Excellent communication & teamwork skills, including the ability to present financial information to the Board in a clear and concise manner.
- Demonstrated leadership skills working with and supervising a multicultural population and working in a highly diverse environment.
Expectations:- Number of direct and indirect reports: 3-5 direct reports
Compensation: $90-$98,000 dependent upon qualifications. Benefits: Paid medical, dental, and life insurance, 401K / Roth with employer match, paid time off, paid holidays.
