Sales & Account Manager for Automotive Chemical Materials

A leading Japanese chemical company in MI is seeking a sales representative who will join the US organization to cover mainly Midwest area.


Under the general direction of the Sales Manager, this position is responsible for providing a broad range of professional sales and marketing activities related to developing and expanding the sale of chemical specialty and foam products for various applications in the automotive industry.

Customer relations, technical coordination, inventory level oversight, prospective and current account creditability administration, problem resolution and communications between the Company and customers are important components.


An ideal candidate must have over 5 years of sales experience in the automotive industry, preferably resins, adhesives, tapes, foams, heat insulation, or similar products.


Job Responsibilities:

Works with Sales Manager and coordinates sales of the array of chemical specialty and foam products for various applications.

Works together with other sales staff in developing overall sales strategy for the products.

Through a variety of industry sources, receives information on possible new markets for the array of Company products, industrial tape for automotive applications.

Pursues new sales and secures existing sales by telephone/electronic transmission by communicating with Japan (Headquarters) representatives and domestic purchasing agents.

Examines, interprets, and monitors prospective and current client financial viability in accordance with Company policy.

Monitors and addresses, in coordination with Accounting Department, accounts receivable

issues in accordance with Company policy.

Visits both potential and existing customers; follows up on sales leads for potential customers and reviews account activity and any product problems with existing customers.

Participates in industry trade shows.


Product Support & Market Research Activities

Research potential markets and applications for chemical specialty and foam products for various applications domestically and internationally.

Develops, proposes and initiates marketing plans, advertising plans, policies and procedures which increase product sales and help develop new products.

Ensures that customers understand product applications and that technical questions are answered timely. Coordinates technical problems with both technical field supports domestically and in Japan.

Tracks and confirms final delivery of product in good condition to the customer.

Responsible for generating and sending Certificates of Analysis to customer.

Obtains customer forecasts on a monthly basis and relays this information to Sales Manager.

Monitors competitive information and reports activities to Sales Manager.

Monitors for proper inventory levels.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor s Degree in related field, preferably Business Management or Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 5+ years of related product management experience in the automotive industry or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Microsoft Office proficient (word, excel and data applications)
