We are seeking a Machinist to join our Repair Center team. You will be responsible for the repair and manufacturing of mining and process equipment including mills, crushers, screens, shredders, conveyors and pumps, operating mainly large lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills.

In this position, you will report to the Manager, Service Center Mesa.

This position is located in Mesa, AZ (USA).

What you'll do:

  • Safely and efficiently set up and operate all common machine tools including Bridgeport mills, engine lathes, keysetters, drill press, as well as large lathes, horizontal and vertical boring mills in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Perform simple to complex machine setups with little to no assistance.
  • Solid working knowledge of machine tool set up, operation and mainenance
  • Maintain a high level of quality and attention to detail in close tolerance manufacturing.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and forklifts to handle pieces up to 65 tons.
  • Display proficiency in the use of inspection tools such as micrometers (ID/OD/depth) calipers, pi tapes, etc. and hand tools including layout tools, grinders, drills, wrenches, mallets, etc.
  • Read and interpret documents such as blueprints, work orders and manuals. Knowledge about geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Change cutting tools and adjust machine feeds and speeds as needed.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision. Must be reliable and display attention to detail
  • Suggest changes that improve safety and boost productivity.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and repairing equipment breakdowns.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Complete required inspection documentation reports.
  • Receive priorities, instructions and assignments from supervisor.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Observe all safety and general plant rules.
  • Works some overtime - evening, weekend and holiday hours.
  • Perform other duties as directed.


Who you are:
  • Two years' related manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Observes safety regulations and exhibits a high concern for safety.
  • Reads and understands English language (alpha and numeric) sufficient to read and understand instructions, drawings, and engineering specifications.
  • Possesses intermediate math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, decimals and fractions, geometry) for measurement, testing and problem resolution.
  • Ability to read and understand shop drawings and welding details, set up and adjust equipment to machine pieces within tolerances required.
  • Must have knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, use, repair, and maintenance; knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blue prints, drawings, and models.
  • CNC experience highly desired

This role comes with some physical work requirements connected to working in the Repair Center Shop, which may include the duties below:
  • Bends, stoops, crouches, twists, leans, reaches, picks up and lifts raw materials of various weights and of various lengths.
  • Lifts up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
  • Demonstrates manual dexterity sufficient to properly operate machines.
  • Visual acuity to operate machines where the job is at or within arm's reach.
  • Utilizes oral communication to convey detailed or important instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Able to wear safety apparatus/clothing when required.
  • Perceives the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels. Receives detailed information through oral communication.
  • Position requires work both inside and outside the building in various weather conditions.
  • This position requires repetitive or periodic movement based upon demand for an order.
