Legal/GCO (Global Legal Counsel) Operations, Project Manager

WSN is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Project Manager for Legal/GCO (Global Legal Counsel) Operations to place in a direct-hire/full-time opportunity with our client, an asset/investment management firm, based in Los Angeles, CA.


Summary

The individual will (i) work with GC Office departments (which include Compliance, Legal and Internal Audit & Operational Risk Management) and key stakeholders to help project manage and drive process improvements and initiatives, in each case with an emphasis on the Legal department within the GC Office and (ii) gather, analyze and present various data to support the firm's GC Office globally.


Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the GC Office and key stakeholders to help design a strategic roadmap that addresses process changes, technology adoption and cross-group collaboration effectiveness
  • Define and drive strategic and operational initiatives from ideation to completion; this includes collaborating with GC Office departments and key stakeholders (including IT and vendors) to define project scope, objectives, assumptions, dependencies, risks, value proposition/rationale, and develop and manage project plans
  • Gain understanding of existing tools used by the departments as well as evaluate new technology (including AI) capabilities to maximize technology effectiveness in supporting the departments
  • Develop and maintain process guidelines, templates, workflows and training for the departments and business partners to drive adoption of department procedures, practices and technology systems/tools
  • Assist in development and tracking of department goals
  • Gather, analyze and report on data to support the management of the GC Office including but not limited to department metrics (such as legal spend) and department budget
  • Ensure all departmental processes and procedures are documented and reviewed periodically
  • Performing other duties relating to data analysis, process improvements or project management as needed


Experience Required:

  • 5-8 years of experience with project operations and management, ideally working in the investment management industry or with financial or investment related transactions; prior experience with legal operations a plus though not required
  • Prior experience developing playbooks, training materials and policies;
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects forward by learning project subject matter and gaining the support needed from various stakeholders and a proven track record of collaborating across groups;
  • Prior experience in implementing technology solutions;
  • Demonstrated and effective analytical and problem solving skills and ability to escalate issues needing attention;
  • Demonstrated track record of skillful communications and effective business writing and presentation skills;
  • Expertise in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint and Word required with Visio recommended); and
  • Experience with SharePoint preferred.

Education:

Bachelor s degree strongly preferred.


Base Salary Range:

$130,000 - $160,000


In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives, a comprehensive benefits package and a flexible work arrangement. The base salary offered will be commensurate with experience and/or qualifications, industry knowledge and expertise, as well as prior training and education.
