We are currently looking for a Sr. Accountant to join our Bloomfield Hills, MI team. The Sr. Accountant performs accounting activities by applying principles and theories of accounting including posting, summarizing, reconciling, and auditing accounts. They will work cohesively with senior management to ensure accuracy in all processes and projects. In addition to computing, classifying, and recording numerical data to keep financial records complete.
What are the responsibilities of a Sr. Accountant?
- Record, store, and analyze information in the accounting database.
- Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
- Compile and summarize ad hoc financial reports.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Conduct research to analyze financial reports and records.
- Protect organization's assets by keeping information confidential and exercising discretion.
- Analyze accounting procedures and provide process improvements.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Review federal, state and city income tax returns.
- Prepare sales tax & local tax filings.
- Prepare semi-annual financial statements.
What are the role requirements?- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field is required.
- 3+ years of experience in private or public accounting is preferred.
- Experience in private or public accounting is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & Power BI.
- Experience using Yardi Voyager or related property management software is preferred.
- Proficient knowledge of accounting principles and thorough understanding of GAAP, as well as an ability to grasp company financial policies and protocols.
- Knowledge of Internal Revenue Tax Code.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Must demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to recognize inefficiencies, search for solutions and communicate findings to management.
- Requires knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, ensuring compliance.
- The ability to work cooperatively with others.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
