Job Title: Therapeutic Recreation Assistant
Job Summary
Provides group and one-to-one therapeutic recreation to all residents including those with Alzheimer's disease and other dementia-related disorders.
Essential Job Functions
- Facilitates the therapeutic recreation programs by assisting residents during group activities, following the activity schedule, and providing assistance with transportation for residents during recreation activities
- Maintains documentation in a neat and legible manner and meets established department deadlines for recording documentation
- Deals appropriately with the special needs of residents and their families
- Plans, organizes, and assists residents in field trips on a monthly basis
Job Requirements Education
- High School Diploma; Associate's Degree preferred
Experience
- Minimum of one year experience presenting activities to geriatric population desirable
Licenses/Certifications
- CPR Certification preferred
Abilities Required - Friendly, outgoing, positive personality;
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to interact with all levels of the work group, residents, families, and volunteers;
- Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly
- Computer knowledge preferred
- Knowledge of documentation desirable

- Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues
