Long-term substitute for the first semester of the 2024-25 school year (August 19 to December 20)

Job Description / Essential Elements:

Secondary Teacher
Minimum Requirements

A. Primary Function:
The teacher is expected to demonstrate fitness for this teaching position by exemplary:
*Preparation in the appropriate subject areas
*Ability to provide a positive learning environment.
*Capacity to relate to student and adults.
*Code of ethics
*Vigor and intelligence with which he/she approaches teaching.

B. Experience and Education:
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying.

*Credential: California Single Subject Credential with an authorization in the specific subject area and the additional authorization to teach limited-English proficient pupils.

*Education: Equivalent to the completion of a Bachelor and/or higher degree with a major or minor in the specific area of the credential from an accredited college or university.

C. Assigned Responsibilities:
*The teacher is expected to maintain a positive learning environment by demonstrating the ability to define the total of time, space, material, and personal interaction in terms of the needs of the students, by being adaptable enough to choose the process which will meet the particular objective, and by maintaining a positive view of student efforts. He/she will be responsible when those components are lacking due to conditions beyond his/her control. The teacher will encourage a creative flow of self-expression stemming from student concerns, but will also prevent individual student interference with the self-expression of others.

*The teacher is expected to relate to students by demonstrating rapport and respect for the individuality of students of various social, economic, and racial backgrounds; the teacher is expected to relate to members of the faculty by working with others and by being aware of and willing to share in the multiplicity of activities going on within the schools.

*The teacher is expected to demonstrate a concern for human values by showing a genuine awareness of a fundamental essence in each individual who, in spite of circumstantial behavior, is innately good.

*The teacher is expected to maintain a code of professional and personal ethics compatible with the provisions of the Education Code.

*The teacher is expected to demonstrate sufficient physical stamina, good health, and vigorous inquiring attitude to carry out professional responsibilities.

D. Personal Qualities:
Appearance, grooming, and personality which establishes a desirable example for pupils. Ability to meet District standards for physical or mental health. Above average recommendations from supervisors or other professional who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment, and performance of the classroom teacher, including the qualities listed below:
