Quality Inspector

Position Summary:
Looking for a Quality Inspector to join our Quality Department.
Company is a producer of high-quality aerospace products, and your role will be to inspect our products for material defects and grade of workmanship using visual, mechanical, dimensional, and functional inspection techniques.
Inspections occur throughout our process, from raw material to final inspection of finished goods.

Primary Responsibilities:
Responsible for all activities involving quality inspections per approved procedures
Initiate nonconformance material reports (NCMR)
Performs all aspects of testing related to manufacturing
Incoming inspections
First article inspections
In-process release inspection
Final QA release of finished goods
Ensures that all inspections and procedures are properly completed and documented following GDP practices
Responsible for generating Certificates of Conformance (CoC)
Reads and understands written instructions and SOPs
Perform other quality duties as assigned
CMM Certification preferred
GD&T (ASME Y14.5-2009) At least 1 year of GD&T experience.

  • Hands on GD&T - not just blueprint reading experience.
  • GD&T, short for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, is a system for defining and communicating design intent and engineering tolerances that helps engineers and manufacturers optimally control variations in manufacturing processes.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
Ability to grasp or manipulate objects with one or both hands.
Ability to stand, walk, sit, use office equipment, and lift up to 25 pounds in the course of normal duties
Ability to see details at close range (near vision). Annual eye exam required

Tools Used
Personal computer and software (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, IPI, etc.)
Standard office equipment, such as telephone, copier, fax, calculator, and others as required

Measuring equipment Used
Inspection measurement equipment, CMM and related software, Optical Comparator, calipers, height gauges, micrometers, indicators

Job Requirements:
A successful candidate must have/be:

Requires technical training courses in a related field or the equivalent in prior work experience.
3 or more years Quality Inspector experience.
Thorough knowledge of mechanical inspection tools, calipers, micrometers, comparators, toolmaker's microscope, indicators, surface plate, thread gage and other common inspection tools.
Proficiency and understanding of GD&T and blueprint reading.
Basic understanding of aerospace quality management systems.
Excellent communication skills
Microsoft Office data entry skills
CMM experience
Experience with electromechanical sensors and systems is a plus.
Experienced or trained in a world-class manufacturing environment with familiarity with Lean and Six Sigma activities is a plus.
Knowledge of AS9100/ISO9001, GD&T, SPC, FMEA, and other related industry standards a plus.
Programming of Mitutoyo CMM with MCOSMOS software is a plus.
ASQ Certification as a Quality Inspector, Quality Technician, or Quality Process Analyst desired
