Job Description

We are looking for an Electrified Systems Engineering HV Battery Thermal Design & Release Engineer. The D&R engineer will be responsible for designing and releasing the thermal component and thermal system within the HV battery and working with the HV battery team. The D&R engineer will also manage the thermal component supplier(s) throughout the entire development of the design, from concept to production launch. They will also be responsible for working with the powertrain cooling team to gain alignment and compatibility with the vehicle thermal architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Battery Thermal System Boundary Diagrams, P-Diagrams and DFMEAs and other core quality documentation.
  • Support development of design and associated 3D Models for the thermal components.
  • Collaborate with the other Engineering Teams and D&R Engineers on packaging and shared/related function and durability objectives.
  • Execute Release of thermal components and the thermal system to support all prototype & production build events.
  • Support all HV battery pack build phases and discuss/resolve issues with the component supplier(s).
  • Develop any corrective actions based on lessons learned and other core/foundational documents and processes.
  • Validate the design changes through either CAE and/or bench level testing with the supplier(s) for the multiple build phases.
  • Review and signoff on testing data (physical and/or analytical) per the DVP&R plan.
  • Provide production Intent Designs and associated Validation and Testing Results to Support Final Design Judgement Engineering Reviews.
  • Release and Update Components Using the Ford WERS system.


Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • BS of Thermal or Mechanical Engineering
  • Min 1 year of automotive component development experience
  • Experience with FMEA, SCCAF and DVP&R documentation
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools

Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS of Thermal or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in releasing automotive thermal components.
  • 3+ years of high voltage development experience
  • Experience using TeamCenter or CATIA CAD software
  • Experience using Ford systems and tools
