Freshman or Sophomore College Student - $13.00/per hour
Junior, Senior, or Technical/Vocational College Student - $14.00/per hour
Graduate Level College Student - $15.00/per hour
Interns are not permitted to work more than forty (40) hours in any week.
Currently recruiting for our Parks & Recreation - Special Events Team
Duties and Responsibilities
- Event Planning and coordination of various Special Events, Festivals, Athletic Tournaments and Community gatherings.
- Developing Promotion and Marketing materials while collaborating with community partners and sponsors.
- Recruiting and working with vendors/partners for current and future events.
- Monitor and follow through on vendor agreements to ensure proper execution.
- Coordinate with the Volunteer Specialist for specific volunteer needs at City events.
- On-Site Event Support (being present at specific city events to help with on-site logistics, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the smooth operation of the event) before, during, and following events.
- Handling inquiries and requests from the public regarding events.
- Gathering feedback from event attendees, vendors, and partners to assess event success and identify areas of improvement for future events.
- Research and Benchmarking:
- Innovative Project and Event ideas and information related to cost/benefit for implementation.
- Best practices in event planning and management for future events.
- Identifying trends in event organization, sustainability, and public engagement.
- Complete an intern project: Plan, organize, and execute a unique event within a provided budget.
- Administrative task/duties as assigned by the internship supervisor or department head.
Minimum Qualifications Valid Driver's License is required.
Graduation from an accredited college or university, OR in the process of completing the course work for this degree in Event Management, Sports Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
