Environmental, Health & Safety- Assistant (FWS/NFWS)


Job Details

Purpose within the Organization:

This position will provide support assistance to the EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) department by handling general and specific administrative tasks. This position will specifically assist the Health and Safety sector with matters involving the University, affiliated contractors, faculty, students, employees, and/or the general public.

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

Organizes permits and documents submitted to the EHS department.

Scan documents, makes photocopies, mails correspondence, and completes invoices.

Assists with Health and Safety issues and ensures all files are properly maintained.

Keeps appropriate staff informed of issues and project status.

Maintain computer databases to organize and store information.

Assist with the overall EHS department with a variety of tasks.

Assists with the preparation and organization of a wide range of EHS documents.

Assists with the preparation of training materials and presentations for a variety of safety meetings and/or training sessions.

Conduct building and department safety audits, to include tracking closure of audit findings.

Assist in incident/hazard investigations and implement corrective actions.

Assists in developing flyers, documents, and tips pertaining to health & safety.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to set and follow a schedule.
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn and serve.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with the willingness to learn new programs on an as needed basis.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to comply with safety protocols (training will be provided).


Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:
  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor's program or Master's program.
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subjected to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements.

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage
