As a leading automotive manufacturing company based in Michigan, my client is looking to bring on an Assistant General Counsel for Employment Law - Americas!
As the Assistant General Counsel for Employment Law - Americas, you'll serve as an expert in federal and state employment regulations. Your role involves offering timely and practical legal counsel on a broad range of employment matters to HR teams, Employee Relations, business leaders, and other stakeholders. This includes advising on hiring, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, internal investigations, contingent worker issues, accommodations, leave policies, wage compliance, and overall risk management. You'll also oversee the selection and management of external legal representation for employment-related litigation, guiding the process from inception to resolution. Additionally, you'll strategize on compliance issues impacting employees, contribute to policy development, and assist in devising strategic plans for employment matters aligned with organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and an active state bar license in good standing.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in employment law, from work in a law firm and/or in-house setting, with a focus on labor and employment-related litigation, administrative proceedings (state or federal), advice & counsel, and compliance matters.
- Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective influence at all levels and across functions within a complex matrix organization.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, meet tight deadlines, and handle a demanding caseload, with the flexibility to adapt to frequent workload fluctuations.
