JR Roofing is seeking a full-time, experienced commercial/industrial roofing Estimator. The ideal candidate will contribute to company goals by evaluating and estimating roofing projects, providing roof evaluation and take-offs and expertise to sales and service departments. They will bring a robust knowledge and experience in commercial roofing to the team, be proficient in their ability to read and interpret blueprints and drawings, and have an in-depth understanding of current market pricing for commercial roofing materials to establish job budgets and monitor costs.
We ve been in business for over 30 years, operating primarily throughout Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota. We are building our in-house team, so if you possess a strong work ethic and have the required skills, we would like to have you on our team.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform detailed estimates in all types of roofing systems, generating detailed reports for hours, materials, equipment, and other supplies.
- Provide value engineering to ensure the optimal roofing system is selected to meet Client needs
- Thoroughly review project drawings and specifications while ensuring manufacturer warranty
- Attend client meetings with sales staff to help diagnose roofing problems and discuss solutions
- Perform roof evaluations, generate roofing reports, perform onsite minor repairs as applicable
- Maintain current market pricing for materials in estimating system; Negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers regarding pricing
- Network and market company services to existing and potential clients
- Complete risk analysis on complex projects
- Generate job cost reports necessary to establish job budgets and allow cost monitoring
- Maintain compliance with company processes, contract terms, and project requirements
- Provide roofing coaching and training to service technicians and sales staff
- Provide remote estimating for other branches and locations as applicable
- Perform a hand-off meeting to the assigned Project Manager on awarded projects
Required Experience, Skills and Abilities:
- Valid Driver License
- Minimum 2 years of experience in estimating commercial roofing projects
- Understanding of OSHA safety requirements and adherence to all work safety protocols
- Computer Proficient in the following software (or similar) a plus: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, and The EDGE
- Knowledge of commercial roofing systems and/or sheet metal applications; as well as industry standards and local building codes
- Ability to read/interpret blueprints, submittals, drawing plans, and product specifications
- Great Time Management: able to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
- High level of professionalism and business acumen
- Accuracy and attention to detail required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word required

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Pass initial drug test and participate in random drug test program
- Primarily indoors, shared office environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30lbs occasionally
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time, working at a computer
- Ability to carry and climb a ladder
- Ability to travel locally as needed to engage with clients
- 80% Office and 20% Field
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
