Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB : Hydraulic Technician is responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining hydraulic equipment and systems. They install, inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose hydraulic systems, and carry out preventive maintenance tasks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Hydraulic Technician repairs, troubleshoots and rebuilds all hydraulic components: pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, etc. d rebuilds all hydraulic components: pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, etc.

  • Responsible for repair and maintenance of all plant equipment.
  • Repairs pumps, valves, and cylinders as related to our business.
  • Tests and inspects hydraulic pumps, valves and cylinders, etc.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and problem solve hydraulic systems.
  • Performs on-site maintenance and repair to company equipment.
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Repair or replace defective parts. Lubricate and clean machines.
  • Start machines to test their performance.
  • Maintain records in compliance with applicable quality procedures.
  • Conduct plant-wide safety checks on equipment.
  • Complete preventive maintenance.
  • Responsible for following safety standards and procedures according to OSHA and ANSI regulations.
  • Complete requisitions with proper approvals for maintenance items needed to repair equipment.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • Responsible for timely completion of all maintenance repairs to machinery and equipment.

Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).

5+ years experience in hydraulic repairs/rebuilds.

Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and technical charts.

Mechanically inclined

Solid understanding of mechanical and hydraulic principles.

Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving ability.

Developing effective working relationships with peers to work as a team.

Dealing with frequent interruptions and changing priorities

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/TASKS/ABILITIES:
  • Working knowledge of plant machinery, electronics, hydraulics, pneumatics.
  • Proficient in reading hydraulic schematics.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic components and their functions
  • Experience in hydraulic system troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools.
  • Strong functional knowledge of plant equipment, electronics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy equipment and materials
  • Willingness to continue training to upgrade skills, as required.
