Senior Construction Manager

BGE, Inc., a nationwide engineering consulting firm that provides services in civil engineering, planning, construction phase administration, and environmental services for public and private clients, is looking to hire a Senior Construction Manager to join our team in on-site in Central Arkansas. Location: Fayetteville, AR

Applicants applying for this position must meet ONE of the following criteria:

  • Be a licensed engineer with 10 + years' experience in highway or heavy civil construction, or
  • A college degree in Construction Management or equivalent with 15+ years' experience in highway or heavy civil construction, or
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent with 20+ years' experience in highway or heavy civil construction.


Job Responsibilities

  • Observes and inspects ongoing construction work performed by a contractor or sub-contractor on bridge structures, retaining walls, dirtwork, base, paving, drainage structures, utilities, and others
  • Documents and reports to the supervisor whether the activity was completed in accordance with contract documents
  • Documents work progress and issues arising throughout scope of project
  • Maintains a daily job log
  • Calculates payments due contractors for work completed
  • Coordinates with a testing lab for sampling & testing of construction materials
  • Additional duties include observation and documentation for specific testing procedures outlined in the specifications
  • Arranges and conducts job progress meetings
  • Communicates directly with contractors and client representatives
  • Schedules and conducts final inspections
  • Consults with Project Engineers, resident project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems; reviews equipment utilization data and time/cost estimates
  • Monitors project phasing and traffic control plans and ensures compliance with approved safety standards
  • Trains and mentors less experienced inspectors on work methods
  • Analyzes procedures to identify deficiencies and recommends improvements to management
  • Prepares construction estimates
  • Performs other job responsibilities as assigned


Additional Job Requirements

  • Experience with inspection of bridge structures, retaining walls, dirtwork, base, paving, drainage structures, utilities, and others
  • Understanding of civil construction drawings, specifications and general notes
  • Able to work hours other than 8am to 5pm, including nights, and weekends
  • Able to work under exposure to inclement weather conditions
  • Able to perform basic math skills including geometry
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs
  • Valid driver license
