Salary: $20 / hour depending on education / experience

Job Summary

The School Custodian is to serve children with special needs during the regular ten-month school year and during the extended school year in July and August.
  • Open the building each morning making certain all electrical and HVAC systems are in working order.
  • Patrol grounds daily checking for building damage and accumulated debris.
  • Check all rooms daily throughout the day for supply needs (toilet paper, paper towels, soap, water coolers etc.)
  • Meet with building principal daily to complete Daily Custodial Project Report listing routine, assigned and emergency repairs.
  • Clean each classroom and office of trash daily.
  • Set-up, clean and maintain cafeteria tables and lunchroom facilities.
  • Sweep and mop floors throughout the building as needed
  • Maintain shrubbery, mow lawn, and rake leaves as needed.
  • Paint small projects throughout the building.
  • Perform minor repairs involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, building structures/equipment /furniture and mechanical devices throughout building.
  • Shovel snow from walkways and remove snow from parking lots.
  • Perform monthly fire/emergency drills and fire related equipment checks.
  • Place orders for paper goods.
  • Hang wall mounted items (bulletin boards, white boards, shelves, etc.)
  • Be "on call" for spills and mishaps throughout the building.
  • Will share on call responsibilities with other maintenance staff.
  • Perform other general maintenance duties as assigned by the building principal.
  • Assist principal setting up/breaking down chairs, tables, and electrical for special events.
  • Install/Assemble all school equipment as required.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least one year of experience is required.
  • General maintenance and repair background. Must possess a valid driver's license.
