Food Service Worker
Description As the Food Service Worker you would be responsible for spicing up our communitys appetite by planning, preparing and serving a delicious healthy brunch on Mondays, and a healthy breakfast snack Tuesdays through Fridays to patrons at Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center. In addition, you would serve an already prepared lunch (provided by a caterer) on Tuesdays through Fridays. Finally, you would wash minimal dishes and keep the kitchen clean on a daily basis. With assistance from the Site Director you would also be responsible for coordinating and supervising any available trainees or volunteers to help with preparation, serving and clean-up.

**Job Classification:**
Part-Time, Non-Exempt, 30 hours/week (Mon-Fri 8:30 am to 3:00 pm, including unpaid hour lunch break)
**Salary:**
$16 - $20 DOE
**Required:**
* Basic food preparation and cooking experience
* Simple meal planning with emphasis on serving healthy food
* Food safety awareness and willing/able to obtain Food Safety Certification within the first three months of hire
* Basic computer and office equipment knowledge
* Ability to communicate verbally, bilingual Spanish/English optional
**Duties and Responsibilities:**
- Maintain a clean kitchen.
- Maintain a welcoming, gracious and professional manner at all times
- Help create and plan monthly menus and shopping list for healthy breakfast & Brunch program.
- Receive deliveries of hot food from caterer, recording: time delivered, temperatures of food, verifying numbers of meals delivered and measurements of pans.
- Prepare breakfast snack four times per week and Monday lunch for approximately 35 people
- Take food temperature immediately prior to serving the lunch on a daily basis.
- Inventory supplies needed, complete and submit supply form in a timely manner.
- Ensure participants are registered in the meal program before serving food.
- Other daily administrative and hands-on duties as specified in Job Description
**Personal:**
- Successfully complete background check clearance before first day of employment.
- Provide verification to legally work in the US upon hire.
- Provide current California Drivers License, proof of insurance and working car to shop for supplies (mileage reimbursable)
