THE JOB
This is an Environmental Health & Safety Leader and will be
responsible managing & implementing policies and processes to ensure a safe and healthy work environment that is in compliance with governing regulatory bodies
. As an Environmental Health & Safety Leader your roles and responsibilities will include:
Develop, implement, and oversee procedures and programs to ensure Federal and State compliance with OSHA, EPA, and CTDEEP. To include, but not limited to:
Critical safety programs such as lockout tagout, machine guarding, mobile equipment, electrical safety and fall protection.
Industrial Hygiene Programs, including medical monitoring.
Machine safety assessments.
Right to Know programs, including chemical inventories and reporting.
Environmental programs such as Hazardous Waste, Clean Air Act and Wastewater Permitting.
Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. This includes audits for compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and corporate policies.
Prepares reports to maintain records of compliance, site s progress to maintaining a safe work environment and maintain reporting system(s) for data collection and trending.
Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.
Aid in the management of investigations of accidents and work-related injuries or illnesses. Coordinate tracking of cases by maintaining OSHA 300 Logs and corporate incident reporting system and follow-up Workers Compensation case management activities. Review and improve the site's Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) as needed.
Assist in the management of the site's EHS Training Program. Provide limited training on pre-established safety curriculum. Maintain Health & Safety Training database. Generate reports and coordinate scheduling.
Provide review and periodic updates of written safety and environmental programs, including SOPs and Work Instructions.
Ensures EH&S training through the implementation of safety awareness programs. Participates in scheduled departmental safety inspections and assists in identifying corrective actions for identified hazards. Ensures EH&S policies and procedures are followed through education and training. Discusses and documents pertinent EH&S topics at staff meetings. Leads the Safety Committee.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate Environmental Health & Safety Leader who enjoys his work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. An Environmental Health & Safety Leader would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
Associate s degree in Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or science related field.
Minimum 5 years of relevant EHS experience in a manufacturing setting.
Prior experience leading a team with the ability to influence site operations leaders and create a proactive, preventative safety culture
Certification in CSP, CIH is desirable, but not required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to juggle multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
Extensive knowledge of safety regulations and policies
Knowledge of environmental regulations and policies, including ISO 14001
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
