We are seeking a dynamic and driven Reporter to cover the pulse of the campaign trail within Wisconsin. If you're a fearless writer ready to make your mark on the political landscape and play a critical role in shaping the narrative of one of the most consequential elections in recent history, we want to hear from you. Join us in delivering insightful, influential reporting that informs and empowers our audience.


Duration: This is a temporary position expected to start immediately and run through the end of November.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide in-depth coverage of the presidential race and pivotal House and Senate contests within the designated state
  • Report on campaign events, candidate rallies and political developments with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key sources in the state s political arena, developing a network to stay ahead of breaking news and emerging trends
  • Uncover hidden truths, expose political agendas and scrutinize leading candidates and political figures
  • Use various sources and data to provide insightful analysis and context to your reporting
  • Deliver high-quality content including digitally focused work via video and social media that resonates with our audience while upholding journalistic integrity and ethical standards
  • Write with The Post s distinctive voice and tone, aligning with the paper s editorial stance and standards.


Requirements:


  • Experience in political journalism, with a proven track record of sourcing and breaking news stories and a portfolio of clips
  • Deep understanding of national and state politics and issues at the top of voters minds
  • Mastery in producing clean, polished copy in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
  • Exceptional research and investigative expertise to dig deep and uncover newsworthy information
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with facility in building rapport and establishing trust with sources
  • Flexibility to work outside traditional business hours to cover campaign events and breaking news
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
