Position Summary

Join our team as a key member in reviving and upgrading vintage automobiles. As the Technical Lead, you will be entrusted with the complete overhaul of classic cars, involving their disassembly, detailed modification, and meticulous reassembly. You will oversee the transformation of a designated model from its initial concept through to its final production. Additionally, you will support other technical leads, managers and engineers on multiple projects simultaneously. This dynamic role also offers the unique opportunity to actively participate in the design and development of innovative electric vehicle (EV) conversion prototypes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Works closely with Technical Manager in the assembly of prototypes
  • Gives feedback to Design Leads and Mechanical Engineers on designs and part selection
  • Communicates design shortcomings and improvements to Design Leads and Mechanical/Electrical Engineers
  • Works with Design Leads and Mechanical Engineers to design and fabricate new parts and part improvements
  • Uses in-house technology to record and update processes, parts and tools in the assembly of prototype vehicles
  • Mentoring of junior technicians
  • Assesses parts quality
  • Researches alternate parts
  • Contributes to overall shop cleanliness and organization


Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Experience in all aspects of a ground up automotive restoration
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Passion for automotive restoration and modification
  • Enjoys the process of hands-on creative problem solving
  • Must be comfortable using technology
  • Strong fabrication skills

  • Valid driver's license

Desired Skills

  • ASE Certification
  • MIG and TIG welding certification
  • Electric Vehicle conversion experience
  • CNC and/or traditional machining experience
  • Automotive drawing and sketching experience
  • CAD (Onshape), PLM (Arena) and Inventory (Fishbowl) software experience

Walking, sitting, standing, bending and stooping. Lifting, carrying or pushing/pulling supplies, materials, equipment and/or items weighing up to 75 pounds. Clean and well-organized unconditioned shop environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times requires ear plugs, use of eye protection, and/or occasional use of a respirator.
