The Department of Technology offers baccalaureate degree programs in Aviation Science and Engineering Technology. The students majoring in other disciplines can minor in any of these degree programs. The Bachelor of Science degree programs are designed to prepare technical professionals for employment in industry, business, government, and education. ECSU offers the only four year Aviation Science degree program in the State of North Carolina and provides specializations in Flight Education/Professional Pilot, Air Traffic Control, Aviation Electronics (Avionics), Aviation Management, and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS). Each of these areas

of study is specifically designed to meet the requirements that have been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Description of Work

FAA Certified Airframe & Powerplant Technician responsible to augment and assist in the primary performance of and sign off or recurrent 50-hour inspections, 100 hour inspections, minor unscheduled maintenance and completes the necessary FAA paperwork and Aircraft logbook entries. Assist with reporting of parts usage and adjustments needed to support equipment in ready condition. Assist the Director Aviation Maintenance and FAA Certified Airframe & Powerplant Technician as required during high demand maintenance operations with Scheduled, Unscheduled, Preventive Aircraft Maintenance and special projects involving major maintenance and alterations.

Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications of the position as listed in the position description.

Possess Aircraft piloting skills including familiarity with and ability to perform required flight maneuvers and procedures.

Possess the knowledge and ability to apply effective instructional technique in the classroom and in flight.

Possess the knowledge of appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations, University Academic, administrative and operational procedures and requirements.

Possess the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced and noisy environment while exercising sound judgment at all times.

Possess a current FAA Medical Certificate.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation

FAA Certification as Airframe & Powerplant Technician

Experience in General Aviation small piston reciprocating engine aircraft.
