DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the management of Apex s Customs Brokerage and eCommerce Brokerage services. Direct the efficient operations of Apex Customs Brokerage and Trade Customs Specialists staff, ensuring compliance with all applicable Customs & Participating Government Agency (PGA) regulations and requirements. Assist the Director and Executive Vice President, CIT for interactions with Apex US & Non-US station personnel and Apex Sales/Business Development personnel as needed.
BASIC DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Manage staff to provide compliant management for day to day operations of Apex Customs clearance services.
- Manage communication with CBP and PGA s for clearance related matters.
- Manage staff to identify and proactively resolve CBP and PGA clearance issues in a timely manner
- Direct the performance of internal audits of Customs Brokerage operations and report results to the Director, CIT
- Manage staff to ensure timely payment of Customs duties and taxes, and other Customs entry related expenses.
- Manages the services and performance of contracted cartage agents, third party providers, and other relationships.
- Direct the preparation of CBP ruling requests, Post Summary Corrections (PSC), Protests, CF 28/29 responses and other CBP submissions.
- Lead and develop CIT team and foster a partnership with other Apex station personnel to create an environment of cross-training & shared learning across groups.
- Train and direct staff to provide quality customer service to both internal personnel and external clients, regarding complex matters of Customs processes, procedures and compliance.
- Manage & minimize Apex exposure to Customs Penalties & Liquidated Damage claims.
- Responsibilities include addressing client service concerns and providing solutions to client service challenges.
- Attend client meetings with Apex Business Developers to increase Customer Brokerage & eCommerce clearance business.
- Preparation of KPI s and monthly metric reporting
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years experience in Customs Brokerage operations.
- Bachelor s degree or equivalent, relevant work experience.
- Customs Brokers License required.
- Knowledgeable of Customs entry, international transportation of goods, import/export processes & demonstrated expertise in Customs & PGA regulations.
- Strong knowledge of Customs valuation, HTS classification, US Free Trade Agreements, Dutiable Assists, Reconciliation, First Sale For Export, Duty Drawback and Foreign Trade Zone processing.
- Experience with ABI Software required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in managing and developing employees in different locations preferred.
- Strong analytical ability, ability to multi-task, customer service skills, attention to detail, time management, team building skills, human relations, professional written and oral communications skills, & presentation skills.
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook) required.
