EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree and Standard Professional Certificate issued by the Maryland State Department of Education.
  • Three years of successful teaching experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Evidence of Exemplary human relations skills.
  • Ability to speak and write effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate instructional and curricular methodologies.
  • Enrolled in school administration program of study at master's Level.
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and discretely with extremely confidential information.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service, communication (both written and verbal), and cross group collaboration skills required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Participates in recruitment, screening, and selection of instructional and non-instructional staff.
  • Establishes school professional and behavioral standards within the confines of Board policy.
  • Assists staff with professional development.
  • Participates in and supervises staff in-service training.
  • Provides and demonstrates proper teaching methods and techniques.
  • Consults with and coordinates the efforts of resource personnel in providing assistance to all staff.
  • Supervises student activities and co-curricular programs.
  • Secures substitute teachers by accessing the SEMS system.
  • Assists in the design of the school's master schedule and individual student schedules.
  • Assists with implementing the Board of Education's policy on student discipline.
  • Supervises halls, restrooms, cafeterias, and playgrounds.
  • Creates requisitions and inventories of school supplies.
  • Assists in textbook selection, care, and control.
  • Maintains communications with parents, parent groups, civic associations and other community resources as assigned by the principal.
  • Supervises and participates in the planning, management and financing of student and community relations activities.
  • Obtains volunteer services for school activities.
  • Schedules school for use of facilities by community groups.
  • Interprets school and Board policy to the staff, students, and community.
  • Adapts educational programs approved for the county to the particular needs of the school and community.
  • Serves on curricular development, research and other committees and study groups as assigned.
  • Conducts informal group discussions with teachers concerning educational programs, student progress and appraisals.
  • Assists the Principal in conducting faculty meetings.
  • Counsels with students, teachers, and parents on a variety of topics.
  • This position is responsible for the above duties and responsibilities and others related to this position as determined by the School Principal.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
