Job Title: Lab Specialist - Disinfectant
Location: Southern Bay Area
Length of Contract: Initial 3 Months with likely extensions
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design, and execute disinfectant efficacy studies in accordance with USP <1072> guidelines.
- Prepare test materials, including disinfectants and microbial cultures, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Select appropriate surfaces for testing, including Stainless Steel Grade 316, Stainless Steel Grade 304, Borosilicate Glass, Polypropylene, Polyurethane, Silicon Rubber, Low density polyethylene (LDPE), and Latex.
- Inoculate surfaces with specified USP organisms, including A. brasiliensis ATCC 16404, C. albicans ATCC 10231, B. subtilis ATCC 19659, P. aeruginosa ATCC 15442, and S. aureus ATCC 6538.
- Apply disinfectants to inoculated surfaces according to prescribed concentrations and contact times, ensuring consistency and accuracy.
- Monitor and record microbial viability before and after disinfection using appropriate sampling and testing methods.
- Analyze and interpret study results, including calculating log reductions and determining disinfectant efficacy.
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing study protocols, methodologies, results, and conclusions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality standards throughout the study process.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and documentation in accordance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Previous experience conducting disinfectant efficacy studies in a laboratory setting, preferably in compliance with USP guidelines.
- Strong understanding of microbiological principles, including microbial growth, disinfection mechanisms, and contamination control.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques, microbial culture methods, and sterilization procedures.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using statistical software.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively present findings to internal teams and regulatory authorities.
- Detail-oriented approach with a commitment to accuracy and precision.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
