VP of Purchasing


Job Details

VP of Purchasing for North and South America will oversee the sourcing and procurement of components, CAPEX, and MRO items. Tasked with aligning purchasing objectives with savings targets, implementing effective strategies, and cultivating strategic supplier relationships to enhance customer and shareholder satisfaction.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead regional supplier quality development to ensure alignment with commercial and quality objectives throughout the development process.
  • Approve confidential agreements and sourcing contracts while collaborating with legal teams to ensure contractual integrity.
  • Work closely with plant teams to align supplier strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external audit requirements through adherence to processes and procedures.
  • Drive development and execution of supplier commodity strategies, including negotiations for long-term agreements.
  • Provide support for supplier issues, corrective actions, and commercial disputes as needed.
  • Assist in developing suppliers to meet quality standards and project expectations.
  • Support plants in addressing major quality issues with suppliers during series production.
  • Conduct regular meetings with critical project suppliers and those with low scores.
  • Represent Purchasing Department on the Regional Leadership Team.
  • Support and approve sourcing decisions, considering total supply chain costs and quality aspects.
  • Oversee team selection and development, conducting performance reviews with collaborative SMART goal setting.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or related field and minimum of 7 years automotive purchasing experience
  • 10 years global management/leadership experience with direct reports
  • Proven success in building purchasing strategies, establishing a vision, and motivating teams to deliver results
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills to support supplier issues and coaching team on problem resolution
  • Strong analytical skills in a complex environment
