Director of Origination | Renewable Energy (Solar/BESS) | Connecticut, USA (Remote)

My client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Origination to join their team. The Director of Origination will play a key role in originating and developing new solar development opportunities for my client to help continue growing their outstanding project portfolio.


Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to expand the company's presence in commercial & industrial solar projects.
  • Identify new market opportunities and assess the competitive landscape to inform strategic decision-making.

Market Analysis and Research:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients, partners, and emerging trends in the renewable energy industry.
  • Stay informed about policy changes, incentives, and regulatory developments impacting commercial & industrial solar projects.

Origination/Development:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including utilities, government agencies, and industry partners.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to negotiate and establish strategic partnerships that align with the company's growth objectives.

Project Identification and Pipeline Management:

  • Lead efforts to identify and assess potential C&I solar projects, working closely with technical and project management teams.
  • Manage the development of a robust project pipeline, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial targets.

Proposal and Contract Negotiation:

  • Prepare and present compelling proposals to potential clients, addressing their unique needs and showcasing the company's capabilities.
  • Negotiate and finalize contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for successful project execution.

Team Leadership:

  • Build and lead a high-performing business development team, providing guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.


Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience in business development/origination/sales within the renewable energy sector, with a focus on commercial & industrial solar projects.
  • Strong understanding of solar project development, finance, and regulatory considerations.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating and closing complex agreements (PPA's)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to drive results and meet ambitious targets.
  • Leadership experience, with a track record of building and managing successful teams.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, renewable energy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
